The Calm before the Storm

If you search for the meaning of Akhada you will mostly stumble upon something as –
 Akhada - (colloq.)-A school of Pehlwani (Indian wrestling)


Pehlwani is the Indian school of wrestling, which has its roots from what was earlier known as Persia and now Iran. It involves two Pehlwans in a bout of wits and strengths with a single mind agenda of defeating the other Pehlwan by putting his back on the ground.

Intellectual Akhada is a similar kind of battleground where thoughts and arguments about day-to-day life experiences are battled out. A wide range of topics – be the group of senior citizens sitting beside you in the train ranting about idealism, the so-called caretakers of the social morality, the legendary gender wars: Aaj ki Naari v/s Aaj ka Arjun or any other clashes; Cricket, IPL, Politics, Marathi manoos, the System, Spirituality, Religious hypocrisy, Economy, Technology, Movies, Music..hush! the list is endless.. It is THE place to battle it out..not to make new enemies by disagreeing..not to increase your blood pressure by being angry..but for self enrichment by seeing the other side of the coin, which normally in an argument, we fail to see and then for most of the times, end up being enemies with the other party!

An argument, ideally, has to be an exchange of ideas from two different point of views. Ideally, the parties involved in the discussion, should try and convince their ideas to the other party. The result of who wins or loses is not important, but the process is of utmost significance since, views are exchanged and it eventually helps both the parties to see beyond their individual framework of wisdom. This ultimately raises their individual storehouse of information, their own intellectual wealth, which is the most important wealth in the world! It is an effort to see the balance in all things around, thus helping us to achieve peace within.
